Biography:

Dr. Serge Lacroix is an Associate Professor of Teaching in the School and Applied Child Psychology program. He is currently Graduate Advisor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology and, Special Education (ECPS) in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia.

As a Registered Psychologist, Dr. Lacroix has been supervising the practicum in school psychology for the last ten years while also teaching numerous graduate courses in the program. Originally trained as a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Lacroix has worked with various clienteles in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia, both in school systems and in private practice, as much in French as in English. After completing a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Laval University, he worked in a research setting before transitioning to a school psychology position. He completed his doctoral degree at the University of British Columbia. Over the last 25 years, he has worked as a Psychologist, managed a test development project and has done test revision and test translation. He has revised or translated several widely distributed measures of intelligence, academic achievement, depression, anxiety, attention and hyperactivity.

Dr. Lacroix is the author of the Échelle francophone d’appréciation du rendement-EFARan academic achievement test for students in a linguistic minority setting. Dr. Lacroix has presented at numerous national and international conferences on the topic of bilingual assessment of cognitive abilities as well as on multilingual and multicultural issues as it pertains to assessment. He maintains a private practice where he specializes in bilingual psychoeducational assessments and language of learning/testing issues.
